GESINE WEINMILLER, Teacher

Gesine Weinmiller was born 1963 in Konstanz. After her studies in Munich she worked for Prof. Hans Kollhoff in Berlin. 1991.-1992 Assistance at the ETH in Zurich. Since 1992 she runs her own office. The most important competitions are:  the second prizes for the “Rebuilding of the Reichstag as the seat of the German Bundestag” and the competition for the “Memorial for the assassinated European jews”. She built the Federal Labour court in Erfurt, the official Residence of the Federal Cancellor in Berlin. For her work she got the “German concrete award” and the “German stone award”. She is member of the advisory board of the EPFL in Lausanne. She teaches as a professor in Hamburg since 2000. She has 3 children and lives with her husband in Berlin.

HANNAH JONAS, Assistant Professor

Hannah Jonas studied architecture at Technical University Berlin. Having worked for David Chipperfield Architects for five years in Berlin, London and Milan she then took part in architectural competitions for Staab Architekten for a further year. Since 2009 she has been teaching at HafenCity University in Hamburg at Prof. Weinmiller´s institute. Beyond that she has been self-employed, currently working on the restoration and extension of a historical monument in Berlin-Mitte.

FRANÇOIS VON CHAPPUIS, Assistant Professor

François von Chappuis studied architecture at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich, the Stuttgart State Academy of Art and Design and the University of Stuttgart. He has been working as a qualified architect since 1999 for Hilmer & Sattler, O. M. Ungers, David Chipperfield Architects and H. G. Merz for numerous projects including the Masterplan for Berlin´s Museum Island, Kaufhaus Tyrol in Innsbruck and the Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Berlin. Since 2011 he has been teaching at HafenCity University in Hamburg at Prof. Weinmiller´s institute. In 2011 he founded François von Chappuis Architect currently working on smaller scale project including residential buildings and the conversion of historical buildings.
